Pre-Recorded
53 Pre-Recorded Sessions including:
Whether you're brand new to advocacy or have been doing it a while, there is something for everyone in the training library with over 88 training videos. Learn a new topic or get a refresher on an old favorite. New content is added all the time.
Being an Advocate is only half of what we do. Most of us are also small business owners. Included are tools, training and resources for you to efficiently manage your advocacy business. Everything from billing and payment options to finding clients and much more.
During the school year, there are two Thursday afternoon sessions on Zoom. Some are an advocate chat and idea exchange, others are led by guest speakers like IDEA family attorneys, disability policy people and experts in our field.
Learn How to Effectively Lobby for IDEA and other Disability Issues
Learn how to have your voice heard about the issues you care about. I've been an active lobbyist, both paid and volunteer, for almost two decades. I am trained and credentialed by groups like the UN Foundation and Save the Children. I've testified before Senate committees and hearings.
Now, I'm sharing all that knowledge with you. Learn how to keep current with the issues and legislation and how we can begin to create real change for our kids. And I host live Zoom chats with legislators and real 'movers and shakers' from Washington, DC and in the industry.
Let's face it--there's nothing more frustrating than the IEP process. Even more so if you have to go through it alone. You've been there--late nights reading websites, attending webinars, trying to gain all the IEP knowledge you can.
And yet, there's one piece of the puzzle you're missing.
Your heart is where it needs to be. And, you know a lot about IEPs.
You know what you're missing? Affordable, ongoing training and support.
The problem? Most training that is available to advocates is either "once and done" and once you complete the training, you never see those people again.
Or, it's mostly for attorneys. So, it either doesn't apply to you or is prohibitively expensive.
But what if there was a way get lifetime access for one price?
When I took my first advocacy training in 2010, my only plans were to understand the process and help my son.
As I learned more, I saw all the injustices and unfair treatment, and I wanted to help others.
Then I realized, I can't do this alone. The volume of need is overwhelming at times. The world needs more Advocates.
Over the past 14 years, I have attended hundreds of IEP meetings and helped hundreds of families be heard. I can troubleshoot IEPs in my sleep! (and sometimes I do)
Once I figured out a system that could be repeated for any IEP concern, I told myself I wasn't going to stop until I could teach as many people as I could.
That's one component of my online training.
But I didn't stop there. My aim is to provide everything that professional advocates need to be successful, so you can serve more kids.
Now I offer live Zoom chats with attorneys and legislators. Weekly chats with other advocates to bounce ideas around. A place to advertise your services.....and so much more.
AS SEEN IN
Here's what that can look like.
I've made it simple for you to master advocacy. There's a principle that there are three components to mastering something.
Do all three things, and you will master a concept.
You pick and choose which of the 88 recorded sessions to complete.
I recommend that beginners complete the 7 Webinars taking you through the 4-step process to being a better IEP advocate.
You have access to these pieces of training, live or recorded, for a lifetime. Including all the printable materials. After the 7 Initial Sessions, you can return to all or part of the live or recorded sessions as often as you wish. Plus, Deep Dives on specific topics will be added regularly.
In Don't IEP Alone Academy, you'll learn:
This is not a book, it is a comprehensive learning and support system for IEP Parents.
Please keep in mind that all materials are delivered digitally in PDF format or video. You need internet access to participate.
At this time our accompanying products are only available in digital PDF format. Many participants use a service like Staples, Kinkos or BestValueCopy and get it printed and shipped to their home. Note: Much of the printed/printable material is worksheets, not a book that you'll read cover to cover.
You can access the pre-recorded content within minutes of signing up. All you have to do is commit to being a better advocate.
Replays will be available within a few hours of the live webinar. Once a live webinar is uploaded for viewing, you can watch it as many times as you wish. Or, join future live sessions.
Participants can receive a refund as long as it is requested within 48 hours.
If you parent a child with an IEP, then this is for you.
Friends, Caregivers, Aunties, Foster Parents, Educational Surrogates, Grandparents, Godparents...you're all encouraged to take the course so you can be a support person for the one(s) you love.
If you have an attorney or currently in the stages of Due Process, please wait until you have completed that before enrolling.
Yes, but know that there is no licensure or certification with this program. However, this is the exact process I use with my clients, so there's no reason why other advocates could not use it as well.
There is no single nationally required license or certification to become an Advocate. I'm one of the Top Special Education Advocates in the country, and I'm on a mission to share my knowledge with as many people as possible.
One of the unfortunate things about IEPs is that the system is not fair. It is stacked against parents. Some schools will say no until a parent either hire an attorney or stop asking. I cannot guarantee how any School Staff will respond.
But what I can tell you is this--With the Academy, you will know what you have data to support, and what you don't. And you will efficiently, effectively, and meticulously be following the IEP Process outlined by IDEA.
I don't get satisfaction for my families just because I'm an advocate--it's because I know what I can support asking for on paper and what I cannot. And I know how to work toward getting data if we don't have it.
Many training agencies just take you through IDEA and other laws, pointing out a few things here and there. I'm turning the advocacy process upside-down--we're taking an advocate's approach and working within the framework of IDEA. Memorizing the laws isn't helpful. Having an action plan to implement, that follows the laws--that's helpful.
Hiring an advocate is expensive. Many charge $50-$200 per hour and more. There is one advocate on Facebook charging $5000 for her mastermind group! Don't IEP Alone Academy with the live chats is $497 for lifetime access.
Not happy with the Academy? Just email us know within 48 hours and tell us why. No, this is not a "No Questions Asked!" refund policy. If you're not happy, we have questions so we can improve it for future participants. IEP @ ADayInOurShoes.com.
